Use a training mission before operational use. The goal is not flight complexity. The goal is to prove that the team understands the workflow.
  • Use a non-operational training location.
  • Keep the flight short.
  • Use a simple scenario template.
  • Assign one pilot operator and one Mission Overwatch operator.
  • Keep a stable local Wi-Fi network available.
  • Have internet access ready for post-mission sync and upload.

Training script

  1. Start the pilot relay.
  2. Start a mission named Training mission.
  3. Connect Mission Overwatch to the pilot tablet.
  4. Confirm live video and telemetry.
  5. Log a pilot quick event.
  6. Log a Mission Overwatch manual event.
  7. Fly or record briefly using normal DJI safety procedures.
  8. Land the aircraft.
  9. Close the mission.
  10. Upload or queue the mission footage.
  11. Open Play with Events.
  12. Confirm the event markers appear on the timeline.
  13. Add one post-mission Tag event from the video.
  14. Generate the after-action report.
  15. Export the offline package.

What the team should learn

After the training mission, every operator should be able to answer:
  • Which device starts the relay?
  • Which device starts and closes the mission?
  • How does Mission Overwatch connect to the pilot tablet?
  • Where do live events appear?
  • What happens when internet is unavailable?
  • How does footage get uploaded or queued?
  • How do reviewers use Play with Events?
  • When should an officer seal the evidence record?
  • What is included in an offline package?

Pass criteria

The training mission is successful when:
  • Mission Overwatch connects to the pilot relay.
  • At least two events appear in the event log.
  • Mission footage appears or is queued for upload.
  • Play with Events opens and shows the event timeline.
  • A post-mission tagged event appears in the event log.
  • The after-action report generates.
  • The offline package exports.
Repeat this training workflow whenever the team changes devices, networks, aircraft, or operating procedures.
