Evidence sealing is the point where the mission record moves from draft review into a preserved evidence state. Use sealing only after the mission timeline, footage, screenshots, report, and custody record have been reviewed.

What sealing does

Sealing locks the mission evidence record so the reviewed evidence cannot be changed casually after finalization. The sealed record helps preserve:
  • Mission events
  • Event screenshots
  • Uploaded footage references
  • Chain-of-custody data
  • Custody certificate state
  • After-action report context
  • Evidence review history
Once evidence is sealed, teams should treat the mission record as finalized for review, handoff, approval, export, and retention.

When to seal

Seal evidence after:
  • The mission is closed
  • Footage has uploaded or queued footage has finished syncing
  • Play with Events has been reviewed
  • Any needed post-mission events have been tagged
  • Event names, screenshots, and timestamps have been checked
  • The after-action report has been generated
  • Items requiring officer review have been addressed
  • The officer has confirmed the record is ready
Do not seal while critical footage, screenshots, report edits, or officer review items are still pending.

Where sealing lives

In Mission Overwatch, sealing controls appear under Mission Chain of Custody after the mission is ready for review. Depending on mission state, the officer may see:
  • Download Mission Custody Certificate (HTML)
  • Seal Entire Mission
  • Seal Entire Mission and Verify Downloads
Use Seal Entire Mission and Verify Downloads when the team wants AlphaRelay to seal the mission and check evidence downloads as part of the same review step.

Before sealing checklist

Before clicking a sealing action, confirm:
  • The correct mission is open.
  • The mission status is closed.
  • The correct footage is uploaded and playable.
  • Any secondary angles have been synced to the primary timeline.
  • Event markers line up with the footage.
  • Event screenshots are visible where expected.
  • Post-mission tagged events have clear names.
  • The after-action report has been reviewed and edited.
  • Items requiring officer review are resolved.
  • The custody certificate is ready to preserve.
  • Any required offline package export process is understood.

After sealing

After sealing, continue with the final review workflow:
  1. Submit the report for supervisor approval when it is ready.
  2. Export an offline package if the mission needs archive, handoff, command review, or records retention.
  3. Store the exported package according to your team’s evidence handling process.
If more edits are needed before approval, return to the draft or review workflow before sealing, depending on the controls available for the mission state.
