Sealing locks reviewed evidence and verifies each file’s digital fingerprint. It is separate from supervisor report approval.
Sealing preserves the evidence’s digital fingerprints so changes can be detected. Submitting a report prevents editing during supervisor review; approval makes the record permanently view-only.

When to seal

Seal only after footage, events, photos, and the report draft have been reviewed; the Timeline, Media, and AI Review steps are complete; an officer has reviewed all timeline findings; all mission location routes have finished saving; and every Item Requiring Officer Review has been resolved.

Steps

  1. Open the closed mission.
  2. Confirm footage plays and Play with Events markers look correct.
  3. Confirm official event counts contain the expected human-created events, approved automatic alerts, and officer-reviewed AI findings.
  4. Open Mission chain of custody and review the evidence listed in the AAR Chain of Custody, including any manual photos or videos.
  5. If the mission used Location Sharing, confirm nobody is still sharing and every recorded trail shows a completed map-file export and digital fingerprint. Retry a failed export before continuing.
  6. Click Seal entire mission (verify downloads) when ready.
  7. Optionally download Download mission custody certificate (HTML).
Sealing checks each included file against its saved digital fingerprint and locks the evidence listed in the AAR Chain of Custody. It does not automatically seal every file kept with the mission. AlphaRelay records a digital fingerprint when a manually added photo or video uploads, then checks it again when that item is included and sealed. AlphaRelay keeps the original evidence image separate from any smaller copy prepared for AI. It matches screenshots by the time the image was captured, not only the later time it uploaded. This helps prevent a delayed upload from being mistaken for a nearby screenshot. Always verify the displayed image and time before sealing. While location sharing is active, new points can be added but earlier points are not rewritten. When sharing ends, AlphaRelay creates the saved map evidence file. Sealing is blocked if someone is still sharing or if that file has not finished. A session with no valid locations is marked empty instead of creating a false route. The mission-wide HTML certificate and exported/printed after-action report include a QR code and public certificate link. A recipient can open the current chain-of-custody certificate without signing in. The link is unguessable but works for anyone who has it, so share it only with intended recipients. The public page exposes certificate fields and current authoritative chain validation, not the signed-in mission workspace. When the mission seals, AlphaRelay removes automatic alert events that were never approved and accepted AI Review findings that never received Timeline officer review. Dismissed alerts are included in that event cleanup. Their uploaded screenshots can remain registered for audit history, but they stay outside the AAR chain and remain unsealed. Human-created events remain unless a user explicitly deleted them. The same official-event rule is used for event totals, playback markers, reports, offline exports, and evidence-chain views.
Cleanup of unapproved AI candidates is permanent. Resolve every alert and finding before sealing; sealing does not approve pending items.
Evidence sealing does not by itself lock the mission name, timeline, media review, or report draft. Finish those changes before Submit for supervisor approval, which applies the workflow lock.

Export the evidence verification file

To download a verification file for your agency’s evidence system:
  1. Open Mission chain of custody.
  2. Click Export evidence package (JSON) on an evidence item.
