Check where AI runs
- Online checks with a device backup: AlphaRelay uses its online AI service when available. If that service or internet is unavailable, supported devices can continue basic checks for people and possible weapons.
- On-device checks: When enabled for your agency, supported Android devices, iPhones, and iPads can check mission targets on the device. Live checks in this mode do not automatically switch to online AI. Recording and local alerts can continue without internet when the video comes directly from the device or connected equipment.
- Hybrid cloud review: If your agency offers this exact setting and you turn it on for the mission, on-device checks continue while online AI also reviews selected pictures and uncertain detections. Without internet, only the on-device checks continue.
Choose what to watch for
Use Alert on people to turn routine person alerts on or off. Where the on-device mission settings show weapons as always on, turning off people alerts leaves weapon checks and mission-specific targets active. Other missions can show separate Standard detections controls in Mission Overwatch. Use the controls offered for that mission; they are not the same for every agency. Enter one visible item per line under Mission-specific AI targets, up to eight. Concrete descriptions such as a red pickup are easier to check than conclusions about intent. Location and action descriptions need particular care: a possible match does not prove where someone is or what they are doing. Use Update AI targets during a mission when available. Person alerts use yellow. Possible-weapon and other urgent alerts use red. Neither color establishes identity, possession, intent, legality, or an actual threat.Receive alerts over the flight app
Android
Allow notifications. If Operator offers Show alerts over flight apps, choose Allow over other apps to let brief banners appear while DJI Fly or another flight app is visible. If you skip this, regular notifications remain available. Check the AI status in Operator before leaving it for the flight app. Some agencies manage the on-device setting, so it may not be a switch the officer can change. On versions with adjustable Local AI settings under Pilot console → Flight, test any setting changes in training first.iPhone and iPad
Allow the requested notifications and Live Activities. Depending on the device and iOS settings, alerts can appear in the Dynamic Island, on the Lock Screen, or as Screen Sharing notifications. Test alerts with the actual flight app open in its sideways view. For an on-device Controller Livestream or Video Link mission, keep Operator open or use its Mission Viewer so the phone or tablet can receive pictures to check. The online recording can continue separately; a recording in progress does not prove that local AI is running.Check the alert evidence
AlphaRelay saves a supporting picture for an on-device alert. An alert can remain available on the device while its event and image wait for internet. A brief banner disappearing does not remove the saved event. Repeated alerts for the same continuously visible subject may be reduced. Small objects, changing views, poor light, motion blur, and flight-app messages can still cause misses or incorrect alerts. For thermal video, a bright or red area shows apparent heat, not proof of a person or weapon.- Open Timeline and compare the alert with its screenshot and original footage.
- Choose Approve alert to include a valid alert, or Dismiss alert to exclude it.
- If AlphaRelay provides an additional AI description of the screenshot, review it with Accept as is or Review & edit before report use.
