Organization access uses four roles. Admin/Owner manages the organization and every mission. Supervisor oversees every mission and approves or returns reports. Officer works on missions they created, were assigned to, or received through mission sharing. Mission operator is a separate designation that can be applied to any member role; it controls whether the person appears in the AlphaRelay Operator field roster and can start missions.
Android drone controllers
On Android drone controllers, the pilot device can run Controller Screen Capture. The controller’s usual flight app handles flight control while AlphaRelay captures the controller screen, streams it to the active mission, records controller-screen footage, and logs events. On a supported DJI controller and aircraft combination, AlphaRelay may also present Pilot mode. It remains locked until the operator confirms a listed aircraft and AlphaRelay verifies the live connection. Pilot mode provides direct flight and camera controls. Availability still depends on the exact aircraft, controller, installed camera or sensor, firmware, and a successful field test. For a DJI Avata with compatible DJI Goggles, the pilot operates through the goggles and their compatible controller. A separate Android phone or tablet runs DJI Fly and AlphaRelay Goggles Mode to relay and record the goggles live view.Controller video from a separate flight controller
Use Video Link when the controller or camera provides an authorized video QR code or web link. Operator scans or accepts the link, and AlphaRelay brings in that video without recording the phone or tablet screen. Internet is required, and the link must open without joining a private Wi-Fi network. Use Controller Livestream when a DJI controller has Custom RTMP or a Skydio controller has RTSP External Server. A licensed phone/tablet—or an authorized officer using New Livestream in Command Center—creates the mission and shows the exact values to copy into the controller. Internet is required. Use HDMI Capture Card when the controller has an HDMI output. Connect a standard USB HDMI capture card to Android Operator, a USB-C iPad, or a laptop. On iOS 26, AlphaRelay Operator can use Apple’s Screen Recording, Video Link, Controller Livestream, or a USB HDMI capture card on USB-C iPad. iPhone cannot receive video from that capture card. The flight app or controller remains responsible for aircraft control.Secondary mission viewer
On a licensed Android device, tap View Live Mission. On iPhone or iPad, tap Watch Live Mission. The viewer shows remote video when available, refreshes the live timeline and alerts, and can log scenario quick events or manual events. When Operational Map is enabled and precise location is allowed, joining also shares the selected person’s position with that mission and exposes Nearby map / Map. It cannot start missions, control aircraft, or perform closed-mission review.Key rules
- Most missions start from Operator. Command Center can also start Controller Livestream with New Livestream or laptop capture with New HDMI mission.
- The landing screen separates Start a Mission from View a Live Mission. Starting first opens Choose video source, then the operator, scenario, mission name, AI targets, and alert settings for that source.
- Open missions from Mission Dashboard (link may say Open Mission Console).
- Operator presents one Start Mission action and starts remote live automatically when working internet is available.
- Mission Overwatch keeps Timeline, Events, Ask AI, an optional Map, and a conditional Livestream or HDMI Input tab in the right-side Mission sidebar.
- Local Network is an Android-only same-Wi-Fi option in certain agency versions. It is not shown in the current public Operator workflow.
- Controller Screen Capture starts automatically on many Android drone controllers and remains the recommended default when optional Pilot mode is available.
- HDMI Capture Card works with a compatible Android device, USB-C iPad, or laptop; iPhone cannot receive this USB video.
- Controller Livestream works from Android/iOS Operator or Command Center New Livestream and supports DJI RTMP plus Skydio RTSP External Server.
- Video Link works from Android/iOS Operator, requires internet and an authorized web link, and lets AlphaRelay’s online video service handle recording and evidence capture rather than the device.
- Pilot mode is an optional alternative on supported DJI equipment and requires aircraft confirmation plus a successful live connection check.
- Compatible DJI Goggles can enable Goggles Mode automatically over USB, but the operator still taps Start Mission before capture begins.
- Mission Viewer requires internet and a valid Operator license; only active missions in that license’s organization appear. It normally runs on a second device, but the Android device that creates a Controller Livestream also opens that mission in Mission Viewer.
